What’s hotter than sunny Orlando, FL in March? AudiologyNOW! 2014. Your Featured Sessions Committee has put together a diverse mix of regular favorites like “Grand Rounds”, “Pediatric Aural Rehabilitation” and “Translating Research to Reality” as well as some fresh, new programs designed to keep you on the cutting edge of your profession. AudiologyNOW! will host over 40 outstanding Featured Sessions, including 10 Tier 1 opportunities. Look for some new interactive elements designed to help facilitate learning and give you an opportunity to talk one-on-one with experts and industry immediately following select presentations.

Featured Sessions start on Wednesday this year so plan to arrive in time to start your afternoon with Carrie Spangler discussing “FM Validation: Inside and Outside the Box” or perhaps you would like to test your knowledge with “Debates in Audiology: Do you know what to do when there is conflicting evidence?” If you need some rejuvenation, consider attending “Women in Audiology: Insight to Leadership, Advocacy and Inspiration” or “POMP and Circumstance: Igniting your Audiology Passion” by Laurel Gregory.

The year 2014 will be a year of change. Are you ready? Make sure you are prepared to manage and navigate healthcare changes by attending “T-Minus 6 Months: Are You Ready for the ICD 10CM Launch?” or “Breaking Bad’s ABC’s: Cookbook for Adapting, Billing and Capturing Audiological Services”. Learn how the Affordable Care Act will impact your patients and our profession by participating in “Health Care Change and You.” Significant changes are taking place in the population demographics of the United States. How will this affect the way we provide Audiological care now and in the future? Richard Gans will address that question with his presentation “The Changing Face of America the Beautiful: Cultural Diversity and the Opportunities for the Profession of Audiology”. If it is Tele-Health you are interested in, come hear a panel of experts discussing “Tele-Health Principles and Practices in Audiology”.

There will be many interesting programs dealing with amplification and our patients, including the perennial favorite “Hearing Aids in Review” moderated by Catherine Palmer. We also have a great line-up of new programs. If you provide hearing services you may want to check out: “5 Steps to Get Your Patient to say YES – Guiding Patients to Acceptance of Amplification”, “24/7 Hearing for your Patients: The New Reality with Provocative Challenges”, “It All Starts With the Fitting – How to Make Sure Your Hearing Aid Fittings result in Positive Outcomes”, “Other Implantable Hearing Technology; It’s not Just Cochlear Implant!” and “Verification and Validation: Are You Better Than Mail Order?” to name just a few.

We have 10 outstanding Tier 1 programs being offered this year, including “Genetics” by Lisa Schimmenti, M.D. , “Outcomes of Children with Hearing Loss” by Meredith Spratford, “Hearing and Active Aging: Auditory, Cognitive and Social Factors” by Gurjit Singh and Kathy Pichora-Fuller.
