SAA Central – SAA Means Business 

Are your feet tired yet? This is THE hub for student attendees! Sit back and relax in a comfy chair while you network with fellow students, meet with well-known audiologists during the various Office Hours, gather important SAA information to bring back to your chapter, and see what other Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) chapters have been up to in the annual poster competition! Learn how the SAA "means business" as we progress into our profession and find out how YOU can make a difference.

Special Olympics Healthy Hearing

Don’t miss the Special Olympics Healthy Hearing (SOHH) booth this year! After leaving the SOHH, you will know about the unique relationship between the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) and the SOHH Program. Learn how to get involved as a student member or fellow member. The SAA has made a large impact for hearing impaired Special Olympians over just two years. Come see how the Academy and the SAA are advancing the quality of life for Special Olympics athletes around the nation!

Educational Competition at AudiologyNOW! 2012

Location: Entry forms available in SAA Central

The SAA is proud to bring back the Educational Competition at AudiologyNOW! 2012. Students have the opportunity to win some great prizes, like complimentary AN! 2013 registration, simply by attending some of your favorite sessions!  The instructions are simple: pick up an Educational Competition form at the SAA Mix & Mingle or inside SAA Central, write down the codes for sessions you attend, and submit your form to SAA Central by 6:00pm on Friday, March 30.  Who knew learning could be so much fun?

SAA First-Time Attendee Orientation – Students Only!

SAA Mix and Mingle

Whether you’re an undergraduate or a graduate student, the SAA Mix & Mingle is the place to be! The SAA invites you to enjoy a snack and a beverage while meeting audiology students from across the country and around the world. This is definitely a great way to begin the night before Celebrate Audiology.

Cheers for Ears: SAA/AAA Foundation Benefit Event

Location: Harpoon Brewery – 306 Northern Avenue

Looking for a way to continue the party after Celebrate Audiology? Walk to Harpoon Brewery to enjoy handcrafted beer, network with others in and outside of audiology, and have some fun! Proceeds from the benefit event support student scholarships, research grants, education and community service initiatives of the Student Academy of Audiology. Tickets are $25; you must be 21 or older to attend this event. Directions to the venue can be picked up at the Foundation or SAA Booths. The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) Chapter Representative meeting is for chapter presidents, vice presidents, or any SAA member that is interested in representing your chapter. From social, fundraising, and philanthropic events, we will cover it all! This will be a laid back, informative session so please come and join us to meet fellow SAA representatives and get some new ideas to improve your local chapter!

SAA Annual Membership Meeting

The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) is the official student organization of the American Academy of Audiology. Everyone is encouraged to attend the SAA’s Annual Membership Meeting. SAA Advocacy Summit

Come be a part of the evolution of audiology at the SAA Advocacy Summit! Do you have a passion for audiology?  Would you like to help spread audiology awareness and help support legislative changes that affect Audiologists? Then this is the event for you!  Student attendees will learn about current legislation, how students can advocate, and how to motivate others to get involved! This interactive session is sure to get you motivated to go out there and become a true audiology advocate!  We’ll wrap up with an open forum and you’ll leave with the tools necessary to take action and to help make a change in this rapidly growing profession.

A GUIDE to Audiology Solutions

Friday, March 30 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM & 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Location: Front of Hall A, Internet Access Central

The exhibit floor can be overwhelming for even seasoned attendees and more so for newcomers and students, so this year the American Academy of Audiology is developing a new program—group tours.   These tours are designed to help attendees navigate their way through Audiology Solutions, the exhibit hall, gather information on new products, companies, and meet new people.  The tour group will stop by participating vendors, where they will hear a short presentation offering an overview of that company’s products or services.  Tour times are Friday at 10:00 am or 2:30pm and Saturday at 11:30am.  Meet at the Cyber Café located as the base of the escalators that lead down into the show floor from the North Lobby. If you can’t meet at these times, feel free to form your own tour groups by meeting up with other individuals at our designated location.  This is a great opportunity for vendors and Audiologists to connect and create new relationships. Student Research Forum

Student Externship Panel

Students are invited to come to this inaugural event to meet with current fourth years and supervisors practicing in a variety of different clinical environments. Learn the ins and outs of searching for and completing fourth-year externships.  We will wrap up with a Q&A session where you can ask all your questions related to the AuD externship process!

 

Clinical and Research Poster Reception

Join the poster presenters as they share their knowledge and findings with their fellow audiologists during this event. Wine and cheese reception (cash bar). Four posters submitted by students will be selected for the James Jerger Award for Excellence in Student Research. These student poster research awards are funded by the AAA Foundation with an anonymous gift.
