When is the annual convention and where is it being held?
AudiologyNOW! 2011 will be held April 6-9, 2011 at the McCormick Place Chicago Convention Center in Chicago, IL.

What Is a Student Volunteer?
Student volunteers help with Academy booths, educational sessions and events at AudiologyNOW! In exchange for their time, volunteers receive free registration.

What Are the Requirements for Becoming a Student Volunteer?

 

  • You must be a current member of the Student Academy of Audiology. Not a member? Join Now!
  • You must register to be a volunteer. This is in addition to submitting a membership application.
  • You must be a student actively enrolled in a graduate program or in a clinical study setting at the time of AudiologyNOW! 2011 (April 6-9, 2011).

What Are the Terms of Acceptance?

  • You must agree to volunteer up to 5 hours of your time at AudiologyNOW!
  • You must renew your membership on or before December 31, 2010 or risk losing your volunteer status.
  • Plan Travel Accordingly: You will select your volunteer time based upon available slots the day you register. You should plan to arrive early to make it to your volunteer assignment on time. If you fail to make your assignment, you will be responsible for $225, the on-site price of student member registration.
  • Cancellation Policy: Volunteers who cancel after March 31, 2011 will be responsible for $225, the on-site price of student member registration.
  • No-show Policy: Student who do not successfully complete their assignments will be responsible for the on-site price of student member registration.

How Do I Apply?
Student volunteers will be able to apply online when AudiologyNOW! registration opens on November 1, 2010. Online registration is only available to students with current SAA membership. If your membership is not current, you will need to fax or mail your membership materials. Once your membership is current, you will be able to apply as a student volunteer. Don’t miss out on selecting the prime time slots – renew or join today!

How Do I Know if I am Accepted as a Volunteer?
After your online student volunteer registration is processed, you will automatically be e-mailed an acceptance letter. If you have not received an e-mailed acceptance letter within two weeks of registering, it is your responsibility to contact the Academy.

When Will I Be Volunteering?
You will select your volunteer assignment time when you register. This is based on a first-come, first-served basis of available slots.

How Do I Reserve Housing?
Housing reservations are included in the online registration process. If you are rooming with others, only one housing reservation should be made by one of the individuals staying in the room. That individual will be able to list the other occupants on their housing reservation page. Duplicate reservations on other registration forms could result in hotel room cancellation fees.

How Do I Reserve Tickets for Events with Admission Fees?
Options for paid events are available with online reservation.

How do I make reservations for housing in Chicago?
Once you register for AudiologyNOW! 2011 online, you will automatically be stepped to the hotel reservation section. Do not call the hotels directly, as you will not be given the convention rate.

What is the deadline to register and receive the discounted rate?
To receive the Early registration rate you must register on or before January 12, 2011.

What is included with the registration fee?
The full convention fee includes: conference materials; all educational sessions (except Learning Labs and ARC), Audiology Solutions (show floor), lunch coupons (for Thurs., Fri., and Sat.), and all free receptions.

How do I know if my registration has been received?
If you register on-line, an immediate confirmation will be e-mailed to you. Registrations that are faxed or mailed will receive an e-mail confirmation within two weeks. Any questions should be directed to Customer Service at 301-694-5243.

What is “preferred student housing” and if I’m a student do I have to stay there?
Preferred student housing indicates hotels that best fit within the student budget price point and offers amenities often requested by students (i.e. free breakfast). This also may help students stay at the same location and further their networking potential. You are not required to stay at the student hotel if you are a student and you need not be a student to stay at the preferred student hotel.

I would like to volunteer to be on the 2011 Program Committee, whom should I contact?
The committee assignments have already been set for 2011 but if you are interested in volunteering on the 2011 Program Committee please contact Lisa Yonkers and she can forward your name to the 2012 Program Chair.
