New in Educational offerings
- Learning Modules on Wednesday, April 14 – jump start your learning experience and attend Learning Modules the first day of convention. View the schedule.

- At AudiologyNOW! 2010 you will be able to now earn a total of 34 Continuing Education hours (3.4 CEUs)! Two additional hours have been added for 2010 at the same 2009 pricing. At the early member registration rate that works out to $11.47 per CEU hour!
- Online learning from AudiologyNOW! – Marion Downs Lecture online available. Check back for more information.
- The Academy will offer 4 Jerger Awards for Excellence in Student Research (previously 3).
- The Hands-on Student Labs will now offer CEU’s.
New in Services
- Cost Cutting Corner – times are tough economically so we are pulling out all the stops to help you save money on attending. This page is filled with ways to help you save hundreds of dollars off the bottom line.
- Free registration for 10 lucky members – every Friday following the opening of registration we will randomly select one Academy Member to receive free registration. The only thing you have to do to enter is register. If you are the lucky winner we will refund your registration fees. (Does not include ticketed events.)
- Reg Express at Celebrate Audiology – no need to rush to the convention center to pick up your convention material before Celebrate Audiology, you can now pick them up at Celebrate Audiology! Reg Express will be located in the lobby of the Hilton Bayfront.
- The Academy is pleased to announce that for the first time, on-site childcare and youth programs will be available at AudiologyNOW! 2010 for children ages 6 months to 15 years. The “LittleEARs” service will be provided through a partnership with KiddieCorp, a national firm with more than 20 years experience in on-site conference child care. KiddieCorp services will provide attendees with flexibility in their meeting schedules and with a reliable, affordable and trustworthy option for child care during the annual meeting. Space will be limited – reserve early! Oticon has sponsored a portion the Little EARs program which will help to keep costs down for participants. - We will be offering 2 New Registration Types:
- New Professional – $230 (early rate), $255 (advance rate), $275 (on-site rate) – you must be a member of the Academy and been in practice for three years or less.
- Nonmember International – $525 (early rate), $590 (advance rate), $630 (on-site rate).
- Student Volunteers will now be able to pick their volunteer times when they register. This new feature will enable you to plan your travel from the start. Student Volunteers will be able to select 5-hour time blocks as inventory allows. If you want to switch your volunteer duty to a different day or time just log back in and select from the available time slots.
- The new itinerary planner is even easier to use – search for sessions and events with the click of a mouse.
- This year you will be able to plan out your visit to the show floor ahead of time using out Virtual Show Floor. See what exhibitors are participating at AudiologyNOW! and get more information about the companies and the products and services they will be highlighting.
New on the show floor at Audiology Solutions
- Research and Clinical Posters will be located on the show floor – see the latest research and technology at the same time!
- The re-imagined New Product Showcase will highlight the newest technology that the exhibitors have to offer. Vote for your favorite new product in booth 2350.
- Industry Updates –sessions will provide attendees with information focused on product training and/or demonstration to include new or updated software, diagnostic or instrument-related instrumentation, new hearing aid products and/or features, etc. Each Industry Update will be offered twice, one presentation immediately following the other with 6 simultaneous presentations so you can flow from one session room to the other. (CEUs offered for these sessions.)
- Sponsor Raffle cards – visit each of the AudiologyNOW! sponsor booth, get your card stamped and enter in the raffle to win free registration and hotel for AudiologyNOW! 2011.
- Concession vouchers instead of boxed lunches – Full conference and one-day registration types will be given three $5 concession vouchers ($15 total per day). No more rushing to be the first in line for a box lunch. Now you can pick a hot meal, a cool salad, or you could spend your $ on a liquid diet of Starbucks Frappuccinos! - Attendee Idea Zones – scattered around the floor will be Topic Tables. Grab a seat and start brainstorming with your colleagues.
New in Fun!
- Why wait to plan your free time in San Diego? Bid on great dining, entertainment, and more in the American Academy of Audiology Foundation’s special online Auction 4 Audiology: San Diego. - Ice Cream – I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! It’s the last day of convention and you need a pick me up, join attendees and exhibitors on the show floor for an ice cream break, Saturday, April 17, from 12:30-1:30pm.
- Ribbon Bar – connect with your fellow attendees and add some humor to their day. A “Ribbon Bar” will be offered to allow you to personalize your badge with fun sayings like “Tired Feet”, “Audiology Diva”, “I need coffee” and more. They make for a nice conversation ice-breaker!
- Do you remember your “Best Day in Audiology”? At AudiologyNOW! you will be able to share what made that day so memorable. Post on the sharing board and see how audiology has touched your life.
- Random Offers of Convention Kindness – Audiology ROCKs was a convention theme for 2004 but now has a whole new meaning! The Audiology ROCKs program will be easy to participate in – all you have to do is be there. At random times staff members will spread out into the crowds and distribute ROCKs items as a thank you for attending and hopefully to just bring a smile to your face. ROCKs items could be restaurant gift certificate, a free Starbucks coffee, or a discount at the Academy store. We are working on building our ROCKs inventory so we can offer as much convention kindness as possible. You will be able to see who got “ROCK’d” on-site as they will also be given an “Audiology ROCKs “ ribbon to wear.
- Check your mail boxes in the coming months – three AudiologyNOW! postcards will be heading your way. Save them up and enter them at Celebrate Audiology to win great prizes such as Free Registration at AudiologyNOW! 2011 to tickets to the San Diego Zoo.
