The Academy has identified a number of legislative and regulatory priorities related to issues being considered by Congress and federal agencies. By using the Academy’s Strategic Advocacy Plan (ASAP), these issues are prioritized to form the Academy’s legislative agenda. These priorities determine how the Government Relations Committee and Government Relations staff focus their time and resources.

Advocacy 2019: Year in Review
This Year in Review (PDF) details how the American Academy of Audiology mobilized its legislative, regulatory, and political resources to advocate for audiologists on critical issues facing the profession.
Of note, the Academy came together with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to draft, secure congressional champions, and lobby additional support for the Medicare Audiology Access and Services Act of 2019 (H.R. 4056, S. 2446).
