For those of you without a countdown app on your mobile phone, AudiologyNOW! starts one week from today! AudiologyNOW! is the largest gathering of audiologists in the world but more than that, it’s what many of us look forward to all year long. For our profession, it’s what works for us. AudiologyNOW! embodies fun, networking, and learning. It’s the largest most noted “good” within our Academy. It amplifies all the things that work well for the Academy and our profession.
As our profession changes and evolves to become stronger, so does AudiologyNOW! New this year, we will have our Industry Symposia on Wednesday, April 13, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. These three-hour sessions developed by our industry partners take a deeper dive into the latest products, services, and technology developments in the field. This inaugural event is presented by Care Credit, ReSound, and Starkey Hearing Technologies.
The AudiologyNOW! exhibit hall is always a must-see. So you don’t want to miss the opening reception, Celebrate Audiology, in the hall on Wednesday, April 13, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The celebration this year is supported by Oticon. This kick-off to AudiologyNOW! will feature Native American culture with hoop dancing, music, and local artisans. Partake in the open bars and food available in and out of the booths.
The General Assembly is a great time to find out what’s happening within The Academy and be inspired by a special guest speaker. This year, with support by Signia, the General Assembly will feature a dynamic presentation by Orna Drawas, author of Perform Like a Rockstar and Still Have Time for Lunch. Based on her bestselling book, Orna will share her perspective on how to focus on the things that will make the greatest impact on your business, how to communicate to enhance creativity and improved collaboration, as well as how to make small positive changes that will dramatically enhance results! Join us for the opening General Assembly on Thursday, April 14, 9:00-10:30 am. As an added bonus after the presentation, join Orna at the Signia booth #511 for a book signing. Books are on sale for $15 each, of which $8 will be generously donated to the AAA Foundation.
Are all these exciting events making you hungry? Join us in the exhibit hall during lunch on Thursday and Friday from 11:30 am–1:00 pm to listen to Novel Technologies and the Product Theater located in the Product Theater Arena in the back of the exhibit hall. On Thursday, Novel Technologies will be presented by our Platinum Partners: Oticon, Signia, Starkey Hearing Technologies, and Widex as well as our Gold Partners: Phonak LLC, ReSound, and Sprint CapTel. These are quick-fire presentations by leaders in the field who are advancing the latest technology. On Friday, the Product Theater will host Oticon, Rexton, Sprint CapTel, and ZPower and deliver cutting-edge information on the latest products and services in the industry.
Lastly, don’t forget to check out the annual AAA Foundation auction. The auction supports all the daily philanthropic efforts of the Foundation plus so many other efforts that advance our profession. The auction always contains interesting and unique one of a kind items and this year should not disappoint. New this year to the auction is a JFLAC Class Competition. The four classes (2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014) of JFLAC are competing to raise the most money for the Foundation. So pick your favorite JFLAC Class (hint: it’s 2008), bid high and bid often on their sponsored items! Start bidding now through 6:00 pm MT on Friday, April 15, 2016.
This single event takes the efforts of so many individuals. The entire Academy staff, many volunteer Academy members, and all of our vendors work together to create this amazing event. So when you see one of these individuals in Phoenix, don’t forget to congratulate them on another outstanding convention!
See you in Phoenix!
