SAA Conference—C.S.I.: Case-Study Investigations 8:00 am–4:20 pm Hilton–Pacific A Ballroom Students are presented with a great deal of information during their academic training. In the externship year, they are then expected to synthesize this information and make clinical-care decisions. To better prepare students for their externship year (and their future clinical practice), the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) has launched a new conference, whereby internationally recognized audiologists will present clinical cases and lead discussions on clinical problem-solving. SAA Board/Undergraduate Student Information Session 3:45–4:30 pm Marriott–Platinum 4 If you are an undergraduate attendee looking to make the most of AudiologyNOW! 2013, then take advantage of this orientation! Have all of your questions answered about the profession of audiology or applying to graduate school (even the ones you were afraid to ask!). This event will also be a great opportunity to meet with the SAA Board of Directors.

The Students Only “Making The Most Out of Your AudiologyNOW! Experience” session will provide you with helpful tips and hints on where to go andwhat to see. SAA Mix and Mingle 5:15–6:30 pm Marriott–Platinum 5 Whether you’re an undergraduate or a graduate student, the SAA Mix & Mingle ‘80s-style is the place to be! The SAA invites you to enjoy a snack and a beverage while meeting audiology students from across the country and around the world. Cheers for Ears: SAA/AAA Foundation Benefit Event 7:30–9:30 pm Location: Anaheim Brewery Looking for a way to continue the party after Celebrate Audiology? Take a quick taxi ride to Anaheim Brewery to enjoy specialty beer and the company of other audiologists and students! Proceeds from this benefit event support student scholarships, research grants, education, and community service initiatives of the Student Academy of Audiology. Tickets are $25; you must be 21 or older to attend this event. We look forward to enjoying a toast together… “Cheers for Ears!” Note: Purchase your ticket early. Only a limited number of tickets can be sold due to capacity at Anaheim Brewery.

PhD Student Networking Lunch 12:00–1:00 pm Hall C, Aisle 700 Calling all PhD students! Bring your appetite and network over lunch with fellow PhD students who share your interest in the science that is the foundation and the future of audiology. This is a great opportunity to talk about the research opportunities a career in audiology can provide. AuD students and undergraduates interested in pursuing a PhD are also welcome. SAA Chapter Advisors Meeting 2:00–3:00 pm 303A All SAA chapter advisors and all prospective advisors for chapters in development (or on the drawing board) are invited to an SAA Chapter Advisors Meeting immediately prior to the SAA Annual Business Meeting. The SAA’s national advisor and the SAA Advisory Committee chair (dual role), will lead the discussion. Come hear the latest updates on the SAA, share ideas for chapter development and growth, and participate in a great networking opportunity with your fellow SAA chapter advisors.
SAA Chapter Representative Meeting 2:00–3:00 pm 304A The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) Chapter Representative meeting is for chapter presidents, vice presidents, or any SAA member that is interested in representing your chapter. Attending this meeting will allow you to meet other SAA chapter representatives and gain insight about what activities other SAA chapters are doing. From social, fundraising, and philanthropic events, we will cover it all! This will be a laid back, informative session so please come and join us to meet fellow SAA representatives and get some new ideas to improve your local chapter!
SAA Annual Membership Meeting 3:30–5:30 pm 303B-D The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) is the official student organization of the American Academy of Audiology. All students are encouraged to attend the SAA’s Annual Membership Meeting. Members of the SAA Board of Directors, including president Andrea Fowler, along with SAA Advisory Committee members will be in attendance. Come join us at this meeting and be a part of the future of the SAA.

SAA Advocacy Summit 9:30–11:00 am 204A Come be a part of the evolution of audiology at the SAA Advocacy Summit! Do you have a passion for audiology? Would you like to help spread audiology awareness and help support legislative changes that affect Audiologists? Then this is the event for you! Student attendees will learn about current legislation, how students can advocate, and how to motivate others to get involved. This interactive session is sure to get you motivated to go out there and become a true audiology advocate. We’ll wrap up with an open forum and you’ll leave with the tools necessary to take action and to help make a change in this rapidly growing profession.
2013 Student Research Forum 12:00–1:30 pm 303B-D Five graduate students in audiology and/ or recent audiology graduates will present 10-minute summaries of their research followed by five-minute question and answer period. The Student Research Forum is funded by the AAA Foundation with underwriting support provided by Plural Publishing.
What Kind of Audiologist Will I Be? 1:00–2:30 pm 304A “What Kind of Audiologist Will I Be?” is a question you may be asking yourself. In the first half of this session audiologists representing industry, private practice, academia/ hospital, military, and VA will provide a brief presentation on the opportunities, advantages, and limitations to a career in these major areas. After the presentations the second half of the session will open up to round table discussions with the presenters. You don’t have to decide your future now, but this session will help you get your ears pointed in the right direction.
Student Externship Panel 3:00–4:30 pm 303B-D Students are invited to learn from our panel of current third- and fourth-year students about the externship application process, as well as the ins and outs of externship years in a variety of settings. The panel will be Q&A format–panelists will respond to questions submitted in advance via social media, as well as questions from the audience. The panel will be available at the end of the Q&A for attendees to ask questions specific to their settings and placements.
SAA Marketplace 4:30–6:00pm Location: Hall D, Aisle 700 Have you been looking for AuD gear and can’t seem to find anything? Come check out the SAA Marketplace, a new event at AN! this year. The SAA Marketplace gives local chapters an opportunity to fundraise for their chapter and keep 100% of the revenue! We couldn’t think of a better place to spotlight local SAA chapters and sell audiology gear than at a conference full of Audiologists. Come out to shop and meet new friends.

SAA Expo Hall Student Scavenger Hunt 10:00–11:00 am SAA Central, Hall D Take part in “Audiology Hunters” at AudiologyNOW! 2013. This scavenger hunt will give students the opportunity to explore the expo hall while learning more about the newest technology being offered by different companies in the health-care field. Work in teams of your choice, meet students from other schools, and perhaps be one of the lucky groups to win some neat Audiology Prizes! After all, who doesn’t like a little competition?! Find out more and sign up at SAA Central.
Special Olympics Healthy Hearing Q&A 11:30 am–12:00 pm 208B Join us in honoring the SAA’s relationship with the Special Olympics Healthy Hearing (SOHH) Program! The SAA Humanitarian Committee chair will be providing you important information about how to start making a difference in the lives of Special Olympians across the states. This year, SAA members will not only learn about how to get involved in SOHH, but also how to address follow-up with athletes after the local SOHH screenings! Make sure you attend to get your questions answered and to get an update about the SAA-SOHH relationship.
Audiology Unplugged: Conversations with Audiologists You Want to Meet 12:00–1:00 pm 212AB Students are invited to speak with some of the best-known authors, scholars, and practitioners in audiology. This is an incredible opportunity to meet some of the Academy’s most distinguished members.
