On behalf of the American Academy of Audiology and the State Network Committee, you are invited to attend the Seventh Annual State Leader Workshop and Luncheon from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM on April 18, 2007 at the Colorado Convention Center, Room 201 and join state leaders from across the country and Puerto Rico. There is NO COST TO YOU to attend this workshop and luncheon. All State Leaders and individuals wanting to help advocate for audiology are encouraged to attend. If you are interested and not currently part of the State Leaders Network contact Ed Sullivan, esullivan@audiology.org, 703-790-8466, ext. 1034.
Our objective for this workshop is to provide Advocacy Training. We want attendees to feel as comfortable meeting with your legislators to discuss Audiology issues that affect our practice as you do when counseling patients about hearing loss in your office. A tentative agenda for the workshop is attached. As has been our tradition, time for open discussion has been built into the schedule to share successes and challenges experienced by state organizations and advocates. We have dedicated time to discuss state licensure issues and the success state academies have had regarding academic requirement change to the AuD degree within their state licensure laws.
This is your annual opportunity to learn more about how you can advocate for Audiology at both the state and national level. A strong and active State Network is essential to attaining professional autonomy, Direct Access and success in many other hearing health initiatives. Please attend so that we can strengthen our advocacy in your state and nationally. We must make our presence known and spread the word AUDIOLOGY!!!
In order to plan appropriately, RSVP's are required. Please contact Ed Sullivan at esullivan@audiology.org or 703-790-8466, ext. 1034 by March 15, 2007. The workshop precedes the start of AudiologyNOW! If you have questions, please contact the Academy for assistance.
