Welcome to AudiologyNOW! 2007

WHILE 2006 SET THE STAGE FOR THE PREMIER CONVENTION in audiology with the introduction of AudiologyNOW!, this year’s event will build on its success. AudiologyNOW! 2007  again offers a WOW! Session headlining Dr. Jos Eggermont, a true legend in neurophysiology. His lecture, Developmental and Adult Auditory Nervous System Plasticity, is one that you will not want to miss. The Marion Downs Invited Lecturer is the pre-eminent expert in genetics, Dr. Walter Nance. In addition, there will be three Symposia offering more in-depth coverage of a topic.

New to AudiologyNOW! 2007 is the introduction of SuperTracks. SuperTracks are dedicated areas of  concentration or, in other words, thematic mini conferences within AudiologyNOW! Based on your feedback from AudiologyNOW! 2006, four tracks have been designated as SuperTracks: Hearing Loss Prevention, Pediatrics, Sensory Technology and Vestibular.  The Program Committee, specifically Dick Danielson, Chair of Learning Labs and Judy Gravel, Chair of Featured Sessions, have worked tirelessly to coordinate and plan sessions that com plement each other and build upon the previous session. The goal was to create a track (a series of sessions) that provides a comprehensive learning opportunity, offering 16 to 25 hours within a given area. Plus, some sessions within the SuperTracks will meet ABA Tier 1 criteria.

SuperTracks for AudiologyNOW! 2007:

• Hearing Loss Prevention
• Pediatrics
• Sensory Technology
• Vestibular

Each session within a SuperTrack will be designated by a special icon. Look for these SuperTrack icons to assist you in your selection of courses. SuperTrack Sessions <<link to SuperTrack Session Page>>. More SuperTrack opportunities will be available through Learning Modules, Research Poster/Podiums, Discussion Groups (formerly known as Round Tables) and Exhibitor Courses. In addition, exhibitors will be offering Demo Courses to provide hands-on experience with equipment or procedures that have been presented in the courses. Make sure you take advantage of these opportunities.

AudiologyNOW! 2007 is also all about Hearing Loss Prevention. Not only is it one of the SuperTracks, it is the theme of the convention. Come learn:

• how you can educate school-age children on the dangers of loud sounds through the Featured Session: Dangerous Decibel: NIHL Prevention for Kids of All Ages;

• how you can establish a new niche in your practice by attending the Featured Sessions: New Frontiers in Clinical Practice: HL Prevention Programs and Preventing Music- Induced Hearing Loss in Clinical Practice;

• how the environment, genetics, drugs and noise interact to increase hearing loss susceptibility;

• how hearing loss due to ototoxic drugs or noise may be prevented through pharmacology; and

 • from a walk through the multistory Journey through the Human Ear educational exhibit!
